BIOGRAPHY of Levi Woodward

Levi Woodward was born in Indiana and his parents were prominent members of the Friends. In the spring of 1856 he settled in the district now known as Hesper in Douglas County entering into farming and other business. He held various local positions in the county and state. Originally an Abolitionist he was connected with the Republican Party since its organization. In the spring of 1866 he was appointed United States Indian agent for the Sacs and Foxes.
